Rare gathering of five presidents at Bush Library dedication
Thu Apr 25, 2013
The job ages every occupant of the office by much more than the number of years spent in office. They ALL look older than they are. As to why, you can discuss stress, pressure, power, whatever as long as you care. But the job takes a heavy toll.
Prosecutor sees Punxsutawney Phil pushing daisies for forecast fraud
Fri Mar 22, 2013
Not much of a joke. Seems to me the Michael Gmoser has too much time on his hands. If the murders, rapes and robberies in Butler Country aren't under control, it seems the good people there need to make a change.
'It takes as long as it takes': How the next pope will be chosen, step by secret step
Fri Mar 8, 2013
For people who claim no allegiance to the Catholic (or any other faith), an amazing amount of interest is shown in these blogs. Interpret that as you will, as will I.
As meeting yields no breakthrough, Obama blames 'dumb' cuts on GOP, signs order
Fri Mar 1, 2013
"Jedi mind meld"? Mr. Obama isn't a particularly knowledgable Science Fiction fan. Nothing like combining 2 franchises poorly. I also submit that it doesn't take a dictator to find common ground, but it does take a negotiator and/or a statesman. Alas, all I see is a campaigner, which is the fundame …
Sequester deadline day is here, but the effects won't be instantaneous
Fri Mar 1, 2013
The first 537 furlough notices should go to (in no special order) the 435 members of the House, 100 members of the Senate, the Vice Prsident and the President. Their collective lack of leadership while spending the bulk of their time campaigning is the reason we are at this point. They should bear t …
Political hot potato: GOP trades blame with Obama for looming sequester
Thu Feb 14, 2013
If only the 537 elected officials would spend as much time doing their $%^& jobs instead for playing misdirection of their employers (We the People) with the blame game, posturing for the press and constantly running for re-election, they could figure out how to prioritize a budget thatstays bel …

Mel Brooks and Buck Henry must be amused to no end! Sorry about that, Chief!
America is wasting billions sitting in soul-crushing traffic

HSR is not the answer to local issues. The distances involved are not long enough to gain the speed to leverage HSR effectively. Light rail, properly routed between destinations, yes. HSR, though, is better suited for linking local light rail operations.
Virginia governor opposes Electoral College change
Fri Jan 25, 2013
Point of order. You do realize that Maine and Nebraska already apportion their Electors as this proposal in more states suggests? I am neither defending or denouncing the system. Just presenting the fact that currently not all states are winner take all. Every few years other states consider it. Giv …
First Thoughts: Changing the rules, not the party
Fri Jan 25, 2013
If you think this the win at all costs idealology is limited to the Republicans, you are woefully myopic. Both parties are guilty of this. They use it as a distraction for the masses while they try to perpetuate their interlocking monopoly as a ruling class and generally doing very little. It is dis …
